Terms and Conditions

  1. Membership
    Membership is open to any person above 13 years of age, but in registering the user acknowledges they are aware of the following.

    1. No member may use Tartarus to contravene any New Zealand law.
    2. Content is largely uncensored and potentially may offend.
    3. Persons under 18 should seek parental approval prior to registration.
    4. Accounts for pets are strictly banned.
  2. Privacy
    No information supplied by the user to Tartarus during registration will be made available to any 3rd party and will only be used in accordance with the general maintenance of the site.Some information is public and the user acknowledges the following

    1. Tartarus does not hold responsibility for any information made publicly available by the user.
    2. The user agrees not to disclose personal or private information about other individuals on the forums without consent.
  3. Rules
    In accordance with legal requirements and hosting conditions the following rules are in place.

    1. No content, action or technology may be used in such a way that contravenes New Zealand law.
    2. No pornographic content is to be displayed on the forum.
  4. Conclusion
    Tartarus reserves the right to change these terms and conditions at any time.Failure to adhere to these terms and conditions may result in a user account being moderated.

Posting Guidelines

Further to the rules we also recommend the following guidelines to ensure everyone has a good experience while using Tartarus:

  • Postings should be made in good faith.
  • Debates should focus on the idea not the user.
  • When posting content from other sites provide a link back to the page you copied from.
  • Don’t spam the forums.
  • To maintain flow of conversation posters should attempt to use correct spelling and grammar

The user is responsible for the content they post and indemnifies Tartarus from any liability for the users actions.

Tartarus acknowledges that in certain environments certain language is not appropriate. To compensate for the open nature of the forum, registered members may apply word filters through their profiles to censor themselves from what they see fit.

Using compact mode, or Tartarus mobile allows the user to browse the forums without the display of user Avatars.

Tartarus encourages members to actively engage in “self-censorship” and is opposed to overall censorship.

If any member has further ideas on ways to enable optional “self-censorship” they are welcome to request new features from the administration.
